Mysuru, Karnataka | February 12, 2025 – In a stunning display of determination and courage, Miss Shanaaya Anand, aged just 8 years and 6 months, has successfully conquered the formidable Kedarkantha Peak (12,500 ft) in Uttarakhand on 11th February 2025. Her achievement has earned her a well-deserved place in the Karnataka Book of Records as the Youngest Girl to Summit Kedarkantha Peak during the Winter Season.

Kedarkantha is known for its challenging terrain, freezing temperatures, and snow-laden trails—factors that make it one of the most popular yet demanding treks in the Indian Himalayas. Despite these obstacles, Shanaaya, a 3rd Grade student, completed the trek with unwavering determination, proving that age is no barrier to achievement.

A Journey of Grit and Passion
Accompanied by experienced mountaineers and her support team, Shanaaya undertook weeks of physical and mental preparation before beginning the ascent. Her trek took place under extreme weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures, steep inclines, and heavy snow—conditions that would test even experienced trekkers.

“Shanaaya is a shining example of the fearless new generation,” said a representative of the Karnataka Book of Records. “Her courage, discipline, and commitment have set a benchmark for children across the nation. We are thrilled to document this historic feat in our records.”

Inspiration for a Generation
Her success story has resonated with many parents, educators, and adventure enthusiasts across the country. Shanaaya’s achievement not only inspires other young children to dream big but also emphasizes the importance of encouraging outdoor adventure and resilience-building activities from a young age.

Parental Support and Mentorship
Her parents, who accompanied her during the expedition, shared, “We believed in her strength and encouraged her to take on the challenge. Shanaaya’s determination was the driving force. She never once doubted her ability to reach the summit.”

Future Aspirations
When asked about what’s next, Shanaaya replied with a bright smile, “I want to climb many more mountains. Everest Base Camp is my next dream!” Her ambition and spirit showcase a promising future for this young mountaineer.

The Karnataka Book of Records is proud to honor such an inspiring achievement and hopes her story motivates more children to explore their potential, chase their dreams, and create history.
